Vocational School for Health Services - Medical Laboratory Techniques(E.E.)

As of March 28, 2006, Istanbul Bilim University started its education in Vocational School of Health Services. Medical Laboratory Techniques Program has been active since the foundation of our school. The education period is 2 years and the language of instruction is Turkish. On average, our Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, which has a quota of 30-40 students in each academic year, continues its unique, effective role model education from the beginning.

Short Cycle

To be placed in the Vocational School of Health Services with high school diploma and TYT score type of the University Placement Exam.

In formal and non-formal practice, formal application is made on the basis of "Regulation on the principles of transfer between associate degree and bachelor's degree programs, double major and minor credit transfer between institutions in higher education institutions" determined by Higher Education Institution.

Completion of a total of 124 ECTS credits is sufficient for graduation, provided that all courses and summer internships in the 2-year education program are achieved.

The fact that the diagnosis and treatment of diseases is based on the results of the tests carried out in laboratories, and the awareness of the health personnel who can use the equipments and equipments in the laboratories and who can perform the routine tests required by the physicians, has revealed the importance of medical laboratory techniques education in our country as in the world. Our country; In parallel with the increasing population, there is a need for trained Medical Laboratory Technicians who will be able to use medical devices and equipments and perform tests depending on the developing technology, in the increasing number of health institutions, in the laboratories. The purpose of the Medical Laboratory Techniques program; The aim of this course is to provide routine service in clinical and research laboratories of clinical biochemistry, hematology, microbiology and molecular biology laboratories, and to participate in research studies, to carry out all kinds of techniques used in these studies, to train technicians who can work in the field of health. In addition, the main objective of the program is to meet the need of qualified personnel in the pharmaceutical industry, in the private science laboratories, in the university and institute research laboratories and in the companies producing or marketing medical laboratory equipment. Medical Laboratory Techniques Program; Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Revolution, Turkish Language, Foreign Language, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Rational Medicine Practices, Medical Terminology, Laboratory Techniques and Principles, Occupational Health and Safety, Health Law, Medical Biology and Genetics, Hematology, Medical Microbiology, General Chemistry General Biochemistry, Laboratory Safety, Clinical Biochemistry, Histology, First Aid, Basic Computer Education, Molecular Biological Methods, Parasitology, Immunological Methods, Pathology, Infectious Diseases and Control are given. In addition to the courses and year-end applications, the students are required to do a summer internship in the biochemistry, microbiology and serology laboratories of the hospitals for 6 weeks.

Students who successfully complete the 2-year training period are given the title of ere Medical Laboratory Technician 2. Medical Laboratory Technicians; Medical schools, public hospitals, university foundation hospitals and private hospitals in the fields of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histology, Hematology, Serology, Pathology, Parasitology, Laboratories and Blood Centers, health centers, dispensaries, research centers of other health institutions In their business, they have job opportunities in industrial establishments that produce medicines and medical devices.

Medical Laboratory Program students can transfer to Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biotechnology, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Bioengineering, Bioengineering, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services programs.

The examination, evaluation and evaluation criteria made during the education and training period of the program are given in the T.C. It is carried out in accordance with the requirements specified in Istanbul Bilim University Undergraduate and Associate Degree Examination Regulations. Our Vocational School carries out basic science education with 13 classrooms and 3 application laboratories (with advanced technological equipment). We have 1 computer lab per computer and 1 computer lab per computer, 7 database servers that provide access to basic books, medline and electronic journals for each program and our central library with 81,000 e-books. Practical trainings are carried out at the Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals. Graduated students are provided with job opportunities within the Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals.
