Objectives of the Course

This course aims the students to meet the science of biology, to give them a general and a basic knowledge about medical biology and medical genetics in order to prepare them as technicians in a medical biology laboratory.

Course Contents

This course includes the main issues of biology, such as the chemistry of life, the structure and the function of large molecules, the structure and the function of the cell, the basic principles of genetics, genetic diversity, transcription, translation and gene regulation, chromosome abnormalities and genetic diseases. Additionally prenatal genetic testing and genetic counseling issues are evaluated.
