Objectives of the Course
In accordance with the basic principles of psychiatric nursing, building the students skills in; evaluating the mental status of the individual, knowing individual's psychiatric disorders in accordance with the diagnostic criteria, establishing an effective and accurate communication with patients having psychiatric disorders, planning and performing the care initiatives in accordance with the nursing process

Course Contents
The protection and promotion of mental health, the duties, authorisation and responsibilities of psychiatric nurse, defense mechanisms and symptoms observed in individuals with mental disorders, KLP nursing, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, sleep and eating disorders, organic mental disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, somatoform disorders, dissociative disorders, sexual dysfunctions, treatment for psychotic disorders and mental disorders in child and adolescents, nursing approaches and communication with individuals having mental disorders
