Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to give some information about basic principles of microbiology, definition and classification of microorganisms, microanatomic structure and growth of bacteria, general properties of the pathogens (bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites) for human, interactions between human and microorganisms, transmission of pathogenic microorganisms to human and prevention, sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis in terms of the scope of the course.

Learning Outcomes

1 Have information about terms in microbiology, the microanatomic structure, growth and environmental factors affecting the growth of microorganisms.
2 Explain the diagnostic methods of infectious diseases.
3 Have knowledge about the general properties and transmission of the pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites) for human and prevention.
4 Have knowledge about general properties, infections, clinical findings, diagnosis and prevention of parasites that cause human disease.
5 Have knowledge about the differences of sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis.

Course Contents

İntroduction to microbiology and classification of microorganisms, classification of bacteria, bacteria microanatomy of bacteria cell, bacterial metabolism and enzymes, viruses, fungi and other microorganisms, introduction to parasitology and classification of parasites the use of chemotherapy and antibiotics, the structure of the immune system and immunization information.
