Objectives of the Course
Objectives of this course are to introduce basic knowledge to nursing students about organ and tissue transplantation, knowledge about the ethical and legal aspects before transplantation, assessment of care needsof donors and the recipient, and their families in pre-transplant, during and after-transplant period, and implementing the care interventions, immunosuppressive treatment and the prevention of complications relatedto the transplant surgery

Course Contents
This course covers the basic concepts of organ transplantation, principles and types of transplantation, brain death concept, and the assessment of the donors and recipients, preoperative and postoperative care in organ transplantation, immunosuppressive treatment after organ and tissue transplantation, and prevention of adverse effects associated with immunosuppressive therapy, the roles and responsibilities of nurses in organ and tissue transplantation, patients-family education in tissue and organ transplantation, follow-up and adjustment after tissue and organ transplantation.
