Objectives of the Course

After finishing this course students will be able to develop their psychiatric nursing skills by ensuring therapeutic interactions.

Learning Outcomes

1 Students will be able to understand the historical background of the development of psychiatric nursing.
2 To understand the basic concepts of mental health and psychiatric nursing.
3 Arrange and give effective nursing care for different psychiatric patients in his/her optimal levels of activities.
4 Assume increasing responsibility for interactions and own behaviour within the context of the therapeutic relationship inside and outside of the hospital/school environment
5 Evaluate the behaviour differences between psychiatric and non psychiatric individuals.
6 Solve her own psychological problems.
7 Understand how nursing models can contribute to the practice and development of nursing
8 Use a nursing model in the menagement of a case study on a psychiatric nursing care process
9 Understand the effects of strategies and polices on psychiatric nursing care plans and practice.
10 Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with staff and clients within therapeutic milieu
