Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to have a holistic point of view towards the patient regarding the psycho-socio-cultural dimensions of rehabilitation process. The comorbid conditions of the patient and these conditions that may become an obstacle to achieve rehabilition goals will be argued. Stress during rehabilitation, coping with stress, social support,sport injuries, definitions of handicap and disability are other interests of this course.

Learning Outcomes

1 Defines the patient as a biopsychosocial being.
2 Comprehends patient's experienced stress during the rehabilitation.
3 Communicates with the patient in line with patient's personality charachteristics.
4 Observes patient's social support network and social support needs.
5 Plans the patient's rehabilitation by taking into account the psychosocial factors of the patient's life.

The course content contains these subjects: health and illness, patient and sickness role, biopsychosocial model, personality, defense mechanisms, stress, social support, post traumatic stress disorder, disability and handicap, quality of life, hope and spiritual factors, empathy, psychological aspect of sport injuries.
